PG or Job or Competitive Exams
Friend’s
nowadays one common question has arrived on the mindset of all students who are pursuing
degree, in final year students, recently Passout students, PG students “What to do After Graduation?”
Many
more are jumbled on the same question many times and I could say to solve the question we must have analytical knowledge to clarify certain things. So in
today’s session we are going to clarify different things which are certainly
helpful to climb the required ladder in career growth.
Here
in today’s session, we are on the verge of that marginal difference so that one
could go for PG (Post Graduation) or Job (Industrial or Any Domain Job) or for
competitive exams (Government, Banking, State Selection Board, etc.) after
graduation in food tech.
Generally
it is previously assumed that students from high academic background go for PG,
students with high analytical and reasoning skill go for competitive exams
those who don’t have the option go for a job directly.
But
friends this is not true in the current scenario. SO be with me till the end of the
session to clarify your doubts. If it is the first time on the channel then don’t
forget to click on the like and subscribe button and hit on the bell icon.
Friend’s
Now we discuss the strategy to tackle the problem.
Its
SCOPE.
It
means you have to adopt this SCOPE strategy to overcome the confusion.
It includes 5 things like
1.
Scenario
2.
Companion
3.
Opportunity
4.
Plan
5.
Evaluation.
Now
we move into the detailed aspect one by one.
Let’s
begin with the first one i.e Scenario.
1. SCENARIO:
First
of all analyze the scenario and take a look for the ongoing crisis, situations, and
trends nearby you. It gives you a clear picture of current needs and
requirements.
PG: When we talk about PG then the interested
person must look for the concerned discipline in which one has to complete it.
At the same time care should be taken to have alternative options for PG or
Ph.D. Let me clear one thing if you opt for PG it means you can enter into the
field of Academics, R and D positions. For this, you have to identify the number of
PG institutes their eligibility criteria, cutoff, dates of application etc.
JOB: In the current scenario, if you come over
any vacancy then definitely go and grab it. As a fresher do not go for more choices,
company preferences, locality, salary etc. You must have to gain required
experience and skills that will advance your career with leaps and bounds. Note
down the different industries in your regions and try to find out their
recruitment policies. Friends, I must say that if you have the job during the initial period when you are just Passed out, your confidence and negotiation
skills are much more but in that period itself, you know how to cope with the
industry. You ensure How to deal with your seniors, how to run the lines, roles
and responsibility of the position, how to follow company norms, etc.
Competitive Exams: With concern to
Competitive exams you must aware of the pattern of the current exams their
eligibility and dates to fill the application, syllabus, and other details. You
have to prepare for competitive exams from the second and third year itself.
Because now a days lot of exams like Technical Officer, Central FSO, Deputy
Director, FCI, AO, SO, MBA, CAT will be coming soon. So for that your
preparation can not be completed within one day or one week it requires time
and patience.
2. COMPANION:
Companion
means any of your friends, classmates, group of people with similar likings or
disliking, relative, near or dear ones to whom you or sometimes your households
follows.
PG: Most of our decisions are impacted or
influenced by our friends, nearby classmates. Don’t think that one of your
companions opts for any particular institute for PG then you must need to
follow his or her footsteps. Don’t go with an empty mind to prepare your data and
then with mutual understanding both could be or couldn’t be together. So don’t
try to force either way for friends.
JOB: In job it is really important to be a sincere, hard-working guy during duty hours. A companion may play a big role to
get you in the job if he is employed somewhere. But he may refer you if you
have the required skills. Here, companion only with you as like others because
duty timings, shift, and area of work may be different.
Competitive Exams: For the competitive
exams I must say a trend is going on. That because of your friend adopted one
banking or MPSC course you opted for it. The most important thing I will
mention that, rather than the same likings or disliking with your friend you
must ensure to build your career in the competitive world, then only enter that arena. It requires patience, passion, and time schedule accordingly.
3. OPPORTUNITY:
PG: For PG, search for a different
institute where you can get admission. For this, you require a detailed list of
colleges, maybe state wise list, different discipline in which Post-graduation
is provided. Take help from any of alumni students, college teachers, well-wishers to find out a suitable institute. Nowadays more number of colleges
provide PG in a different discipline.
JOB: Talking about the job, yes you have to
be a proper opportunist. Because the most typical thing is to get the first job.
For that, you have to prepare your resume with your skills. Resume mainly covers
academic curriculum, objective, ELP, Training, Computer skills, Participative
certificates, personal information, and any other extracurricular achievement in a brief manner. After that, you have to submit the resume to some prospective
companies or to college, any alumni, or to a friend. You must be preparing
yourself to work at any positions, locations irrespective of duty hours.
Competitive Exams: People often get
confused about the competitive exams field. They are willing to do prepare for the
exams on the side and on others don’t want to remain aside from the rest. I suggest
here, don’t judge what others think?, you have to attend one regular
library for studies. Those who wish to prepare must go for the section they wish to
prepare. It is either the Banking sector, UPSC, SSC, MPSC, or any government post.
Be preparing yourself for any upcoming position among the all.
4. PLAN:
It
applies a systematic approach to achieve your goal.
PG: With concern to the PG you must prepare
according to different institutes criteria where one will go for PG and Ph.D.
Check the requirement of the GATE score. Because in certain institutes like ICT Mumbai
just clearing the GATE couldn’t assure you a seat. So check out for last year cut
off. Also check out the criterion for different colleges and could you fit in
it. Friends all this information will be with you during your seventh sem.
Only. As you have some time during ELP so start preparing from there itself. Also, there is more competition in the institutes having a brand identity in the market.
JOB: In terms of the job you have to plan
according to duty hours, location at which you have to stay, transportation if
any. Though you have the reference do not take into granted anything. Focus on
the interview. Before the interview at any company focus on their products, plants,
history and new advancement, role you have to perform. You must take the help of
anyone who is good in terms of a specific domain. I just gave you a piece of advice until
and unless you have you get confirmation on the mail or through company offer
letter don’t reveal that you got selected in so and so company. Because I saw
many people who confirmed during the interview but couldn’t get the offer letter. During the initial phase don’t ask for different
facilities. Because once you perform facilities are on your way.
Competitive Exams: With concern to the
competitive exams, plan your calendar year. You must be aware of the exam
pattern, previous question pattern with the use of reliable sources. Forget
about social gatherings, just do your preparations. Some might opt for a job
and part-time study. It typically depends on the self-commitment of the
candidate. During the journey, you must
be equipped with patience because efforts may not have shortcuts. I have seen
many people who are achieving success when they are working in some of the
organizations or as an assistant professor in college. It clearly depends on the concept, applications, skills, judgment power, and ability to sustain the
pressure.
5. EVALUATION:
PG: The most important thing I have seen in
many students till the completion of PG they are not sure what to do next. Some
might come to a college professor, some for Ph.D., some into industries, and some
will again prepare for competitive exams or else own startup. I clearly say
one thing you must be aware of the College campus and placement scenario.
For that, you do one thing before taking admission. Take information from the
seniors who are there. If no one then checks the list of last year admitted
students or any one's name. For contact details of his or her check with social
media platforms. You definitely get information about the college and its
reputation in the industry. Also, take the information from two to three sources to
avoid biases. For the entry-level quality and production, job company may
prefer a graduate candidate than PG.
JOB: Search for different related industries.
If you have any references then use it. Takedown the proceedings after the
interview from time to time. Don’t limit yourself to only specific industrial
areas. Make friends during the training phase, these contact must be helpful to you.
If you require a job then do your Inplant Training with all sincerity and you may
get the job therein. Also, there is one major advantage as till you get PDC you
have work experience of at least 3-4 months. During that time its your moral responsibility
to look for others who need a job. A certain company takes time to reveal the
results so wait and watch for the same. Use different sources to get a job as
it may be possible to get it from one or another one. Once you selected to be there
till at least one year i.e. a countable experience. Also one thing I must say
express your gratitude to every single individual when you got the job.
Competitive Exams: During preparation for
competitive exams don’t spend too much time on thinking about the future. I may
suggest use of social media to a small extent only as it may distract you from
your goal. Believe me practice, daily routine and regularity in study matters a
most. Make a deadline for the preparation and number of attempts you go for. If by
any chance you couldn’t succeed then opt for industrial options. As if you have
the perfect base then with the job on hand you could go well in terms of
competitive exams.
SUMMARY:
With
concern to the topic I am concluding following important points.
1. Don’t get confused after graduation
regarding what to do next?
2. Those who opt for PG, shortlist top
colleges, their criteria, placement then only go with it. You may enter into
the Academics in different colleges, B voc colleges, in R and D. But without
preparation don’t go for PG. Because I have seen students who after PG join the
industry at the same pay scale of Graduate student.
3. Friends if you wish to go in to industry
then don’t go for post graduation. Directly enter into any industry with
references, relatives, and college’s assistance or by own self. Be there at
least for 1 year.
4. Those who wish to pave their career in
Competitive exams do that from second year itself. Also I seen students from Industry
and academics prepare for the exams. So prepare accordingly with time schedule
and full of dedication and commitment.
